Let’s face it, life can often feel like a whirlwind with packed schedules, endless to-dos, and constant demands pulling us in all directions.
Before we know it, our nervous systems are frazzled, and we’re stuck in a cycle of overwhelm. I’ve learned from personal experience that dedicating intentional time to reset my nervous system has become essential to staying grounded, calm, and balanced.

Creating a nervous system reset day routine has been essential for me. Whether you choose to create a Sunday reset routine or anytime of the week, It’s a holistic, simple way to step off the hamster wheel, reclaim your calm, and return to your center.
Today, I’ll share the exact steps I take when I feel the need to reset my nervous system, inviting you to create your own peaceful ritual.
Set Your Intention for the Day With Morning Pages

First things first – I always start my reset day by setting a clear intention. This comes after getting clarity through my Morning Pages practice. It’s a simple but powerful step that helps align my mind and body and creates clarity for the day ahead.
Here are a couple of prompts I use:
- What message does my highest self have for me today?
- What can I release to make space for more peace and alignment?
Writing these responses shifts my perspective immediately and leaves me feeling clearer, calmer, and more aligned with my higher wisdom.
Clear Your Energy with a Deep Imagining (DI)

You may have heard me rave about Deep Imaginings (DIs) from To Be Magnetic. These guided meditations combine neuroscience, psychology, and self-hypnosis to powerfully shift your nervous system into a calmer, more regulated state.
My absolute favorite way to kick off a reset day is with the Clear Your Aura DI. This DI is free to non-pathway members and gently helps release stress, energetic heaviness, and anxiety. It’s honestly transformative.
If it resonates, To Be Magnetic’s Pathway Membership offers an incredible selection of Deep Imaginings and workshops designed specifically to support nervous system healing and holistic wellness.

Nourish Yourself with a Mindful Meal

Eating mindfully helps calm my nervous system instantly. On reset days, I like to create a nourishing high-protein breakfast made from whole, clean ingredients. My go-to favorites usually include:
- Healthy fats: avocado slices, olive oil drizzles, or nuts and seeds.
- Protein: eggs, grilled chicken, or chickpeas.
- Fresh veggies or leafy greens: spinach, kale, or arugula.
As I eat, I slow down and savor each bite. No multitasking, no screens. Just enjoying the food’s textures and flavors while appreciating my surroundings. This mindful approach immediately calms and grounds me for the day ahead.
Disconnect with a Digital Detox

Screens tend to overstimulate my nervous system, especially if I’ve been online constantly. So on reset days, I intentionally step away from technology, even if it’s just for a few hours.
During this screen-free time, I love to:
- Read a favorite book or journal quietly.
- Enjoy a creative activity like drawing or painting.
- Listen to calming music or the peaceful sounds of nature.
It feels like hitting pause on the noise and allows my nervous system to recover from information overload. It’s incredible how refreshed and calm I feel afterward!
Take a Mini Adventure to Shift Your Perspective

When I’m stuck in stress or overwhelm, I’ve learned that sometimes I need to change my surroundings entirely. A mini-adventure, even just an hour or two, dramatically resets my mindset and energy.
Some of my favorite reset-day adventures include:
- Exploring nature: Walking on a local nature trail, spending time at a nearby park, or simply exploring a new neighborhood.
- Visiting a cozy café or independent bookstore I haven’t tried before to get fresh inspiration and new energy.
- Taking a scenic drive, even just around town. Something about getting into motion and listening to uplifting songs physically moves emotional stagnation.
Every single time, I return feeling refreshed and recalibrated like I’ve cleared my emotional slate.
Move Your Body with Mindful Gentle Exercise

Movement is a key part of my nervous system reset. Gentle, mindful practices like yoga, stretching, or qi gong calm my nervous system, release tension, and reconnect me with my body.
My favorite simple routines include:
- A short yoga flow focused on gentle stretches and deep breathing.
- Chi gong exercises for a soothing energetic shift.
- A slow walk outdoors, ideally barefoot for extra grounding.
These gentle movements not only feel wonderful physically but instantly reduce my anxiety and invite a sense of spacious calm.

Practice Calming Breathwork

Breathwork has become one of my favorite quick resets because it’s accessible anywhere. Whenever stress builds, I take a few minutes to reset my nervous system with intentional breathing.
My simple breathwork reset goes like this:
- Breathe in through your nose slowly for a count of four.
- Hold gently at the top for a count of four.
- Slowly exhale through your mouth for a count of six.
Within minutes, I feel significantly calmer, clearer, and more centered.
Cleanse and Restore with an Epsom Salt Bath

An Epsom salt bath is more than just a relaxing soak, it’s a powerful way to reset physically and energetically. Magnesium in Epsom salt soothes tense muscles and helps calm an anxious nervous system.
Here’s my simple bath ritual:
- Fill a warm bath and add 1-2 cups of Epsom salts.
- Add a few drops of calming essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus, or frankincense.
- Soak for 20-30 minutes, allowing stress to dissolve with each deep breath.
I often do this in the evening on reset days to deeply cleanse and prepare my body and mind for restful sleep.

Close Your Day with Gratitude and Grounding

At the end of my reset day, I take a moment to reflect on the experience with gratitude. Even if I wasn’t able to incorporate every practice, acknowledging the intentionality of caring for myself is powerful.
My evening grounding rituals might include:
- Quiet reflection or prayer, reconnecting with God or Source.
- A short gratitude list of things I’m deeply thankful for.
- A calming cup of chamomile or lavender tea.
Closing the day this way anchors the peaceful energy I’ve cultivated, carrying it into the days that follow.
Conclusion
Creating your own nervous system reset day isn’t about doing everything perfectly, it’s about making intentional space to come back into balance.
These practices have become an essential part of my holistic self-care toolbox, and my hope is they’ll serve you just as beautifully.
